South Carolina Facilitates Energy Efficiency Financing for Public Buildings Reducing Costs to Taxpayers
With the help of an Energy Department State Energy Program competitive award, the South Carolina Energy Office created the Palmetto Energy Efficiency Retrofits (PEER) program to better take advantage of the considerable potential for energy cost savings in the state’s buildings.
The Rutledge Building
The Office of General Services was able to upgrade air conditioning units at the Rutledge Building in downtown Columbia with a ConserFund loan from the Energy Office.
General Services Energy Facility
General Services was able to replace a 750 ton water-cooled centrifugal water chiller with a ConserFund loan from the Energy Office. The new chiller saves hours of energy usage and over $100,000 each year for the State of South Carolina.
